Good Hope Retreat is a private artists retreat now open to the public. It consists of three extraordinary hand-crafted wood, island cabin-style houses on an estate of four acres, situated more than somewhat majestically in the high Mountains of West Moreland, Jamaica. This is tropically forested and landscaped by both Sean Clark and his father, painter Terry Clark, Sean being the Jamaica-born owner and proprietor of Good Hope Retreat.

Our retreat is off-the-beaten track, beautifully forested, with our Jamaican hills overlooking the island's South Coast. Our sunset from this vantage point, 700 meters (2100 feet) above sea level, is an exclusive nightly spectacle of beauty. Cool evenings and warm but moderate daytime temperatures, individuals with heightened appreciations of natural wonders and phenomenon will be inspired to no end by all that is to be found and re-discovered in the rural tradition of Good Hope Retreat.

The following photos, taken recently for our first website, are captured moments of Good Hope and what is to be found here. If the photos connect with you, then perhaps you too will discover for yourself: Good Hope Retreat is a place you can belong.

On the premises of Good Hope Retreat we have extensive nature trails passing through mountain forests of Jamaican trees, plants, and fruit tree orchards. There is excellent walking out into the near-by rural community, featuring little grocery shop-bar combinations, local goods, and a number of country and home-style churches. Here one gets to meet real Jamaica in a genuine laid-back rural setting.

We offer day-trips to the excellent beaches below Good Hope Retreat. Additionally, day-trips are available to Y.S. Falls, a magnificent 7-tier waterfall located close-by on privately-owned landscaped park, for leisurely picnicing and swimming.

For all who would like to boogie, transportation is easily arranged to the clubs in Negril 35 miles away, or to one of the many local clubs in the area. (We Jamaicans love our music and dancing—which is why most little "shops" have a "bar" area.)
